Billionaire Boyfriend Perfume: What Happened To It?

Whatever happened to Billionaire Boyfriend?
You've searched for it. Maybe you found an old bottle at the back of a drawer, or a friend mentioned a scent she used to wear and you've been trying to track down the name ever since. Billionaire Boyfriend hasn't been on shelves in years but it hasn't been forgotten, either. Not by the people who wore it, and honestly, not by us.
The scent that almost sank the ship
Billionaire launched in 2012, back when Boyfriend was still finding its footing, part of the brand's original, v1 approach before we ever sold direct-to-consumer. The pressure to follow a hit with something new is real, and Billionaire was the answer: bolder, brassier, a little more audacious in its name than anything we'd released before. It didn't land the way Original did and by 2014, that first chapter of the brand had closed.
When Kate Walsh and the team brought Boyfriend back years later, they rebuilt slow and direct, doubling down on Original before eventually introducing Morning W'oud and Down Under. Billionaire stayed on the shelf. Not forgotten, just waiting.
What it actually smelled like
If you wore it, you already know. If you didn't, here's the profile: bergamot and tangerine up top, green lush leaf and gardenia through the middle, then black jasmine and black velvet orchid giving it that slightly wicked edge, all grounded in patchouli, amber, cistus, vetiver, and sandalwood. It was citrusy and woodsy at the same time, femme and masculine, gentle and a little badass, all in one bottle. That contrast was the whole point. You didn't need a billion dollars or a boyfriend to feel like you had both.
So, is it coming back?
Here's the honest answer: we talk about it more than you'd think. Billionaire isn't gone in the sense that the formula disappeared. It's a scent that already exists, sitting in our library, waiting for the right moment to come back into the world. Nothing is confirmed. But if there's one thing that could move the needle, it's hearing from the people who still search for it by name.
Tell us you want it back. Join Boyfriend Confidential, our private Facebook group, subscribe to our newsletter (find the sign-up in the footer of any page), or just leave a comment below. All three genuinely factor into what we decide to bring back.
What to wear while you wait
If it's the green, gardenia-laced freshness of Billionaire you're chasing, Down Under is the closest thing in our current lineup: lush green leaves and gardenia sit right at its center, with frangipani, hibiscus, and vanilla keeping it warm instead of sharp. It's easy-going in a way Billionaire's top notes always promised to be.
If it's the amber-and-woods base you remember most, Morning W'oud picks up that thread: bergamot again at the top, then ambery woods and tonka bean doing the same grounding work Billionaire's sandalwood and vetiver did. Refined, a little unisex, built to last through a full day.
Try them without committing
Neither one is a perfect replica (no reformulation ever really is) but between the two, you'll get close to the feeling Billionaire left behind. The easiest way to find out which one actually lands for you: the Boyfriend Sampler Discovery Kit. Just pay shipping, try all three of our current scents, and get 15% off your first full-size bottle when you're ready to commit. Sometimes the scent you're looking for isn't gone, it's just wearing a different name.
