Women's History Month: Gwyneth Paltrow
As an award-winning actress, Gwyneth Paltrow made her mark starring in record-breaking films such as Iron Man, Avengers, Shakespeare In Love & more. But in 2008, Gwyneth decided to step out of her Hollywood comfort zone when she founded Goop - a lifestyle and wellness brand that has changed the game.
Gwyenth’s interest in wellness and health practices began when her father was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1998. Looking for answers, she started researching topics, such as macrobiotics and environmental toxins which weren’t well known at that time. Gwyneth, unfortunately, lost her father a few years after his diagnosis.
Goop began as a series of weekly newsletters centered around recommendations on travel, fashion, and health. She wanted Goop to be a place where people could get unbiased recommendations, since it was hard for her to find trusted sources on the subjects she cared about. Over the last decade, Gwyneth has created a loyal community and Goop has expanded into many ventures such as e-commerce, developing proprietary wellness products, a Netflix deal, all while staying true to the lifestyle brand that started it all.
Gwyneth broke the mold when it comes to wellness, and what a lifestyle brand can be. Goop continues to grow and Gwyneth continues to raise the bar in the beauty scene.
