How to make perfume last longer (the Boyfriend approach)

You put it on at 8 a.m. By lunch, it's gone. Not faded, not softened. Gone. If that's your perfume story, the fragrance probably isn't the problem. The way it's meeting your skin is.
Good news: a few small habits make a real difference, and none of them involve buying a second bottle of something heavier. Here's how we wear Boyfriend, and how we'd suggest you wear anything you love.
Start with skin that's ready for it
Fragrance holds on to moisture. Dry skin lets scent slip away faster, so the easiest first step happens before you reach for the bottle. Moisturize after your shower, then apply your perfume while your skin is still soft.
An unscented lotion works. So does a body product that already plays well with your scent, like the Boyfriend Hand & Body Crème ($19). Either way, you're giving the fragrance something to cling to.
Spray where the warmth is
Pulse points aren't a myth. The inside of your wrists, the sides of your neck, behind your ears and the crook of your elbows run warm, and warmth helps a fragrance bloom and keep blooming through the day.
Then, the part everyone gets wrong: don't rub your wrists together. It feels natural, but the friction can break down the top notes faster and flatten the scent. Spray, then let it settle.
Want it to follow you? Spritz a little on your clothes or into your hair from a good arm's length away. Fabric and hair hold scent beautifully. A quick patch test on something delicate is smart, since perfume can mark certain fabrics.
Layer an oil under your spray
This is the Boyfriend approach, and the one we'd tell a friend first. Oil-based formulas sit on the skin and hold scent differently than a spray does. Roll the Original Rollerball ($35) onto your pulse points first, then add a spritz of the Original Eau de Parfum ($89) over the top.
You get the same Original, softly floral, delicately spicy, woodsy vanilla, in two textures that build on each other. The Rollerball is alcohol free and oil based, which is exactly why it layers so easily with other fragrances. It's also TSA approved, so it travels where you do.
If you like the idea of having both within reach, the Boyfriend Power Couple ($119) pairs the Original Eau de Parfum with the Original Rollerball.
Keep the Rollerball in your bag
Even the best-layered scent softens over a long day. That's normal, and it's why a pocket-size top-up beats trying to over-spray in the morning. A quick swipe on your wrists or collarbone before dinner brings Original back to the front, without the heavy cloud.
Less in the morning, a touch more in the evening. That's the whole rhythm.

Store it like you mean it
Heat, light and humidity are fragrance's enemies. A steamy bathroom shelf or a sunny windowsill ages a bottle faster than you'd expect. Keep yours in a cool, dark spot, a drawer or a closet, with the cap on. It's a small thing, and it protects every spritz.
A quick checklist
- Moisturize first. Scent clings to hydrated skin.
- Spray pulse points. Warmth helps it bloom.
- Don't rub. Let it dry on its own.
- Layer oil, then spray. Rollerball first, Eau de Parfum second.
- Top up later. One quick swipe beats a double spray.
- Store it cool and dark. Skip the bathroom shelf.
