Marianna Hewitt and Lauren Gores are the co-founders of beauty brand Summer Fridays. Before becoming lifestyle influencers focused on beauty, Hewitt and Gores both worked as TV hosts. After growing their following as influencers and having the opportunity to try and test many different products and brands, they decided to create their own beauty brand together. Their shared loved for face masks was the inspiration behind the beginning stages of their skincare line.

Summer Fridays was birthed from much thought and consideration. Marianna and Lauren wanted a product that would be photogenic and seamlessly fit into Instagram feeds. They cared about the small details; from the font on the package (it needed to be big enough to show in a photo) to the packaging’s shape (created so it won’t roll off the table.) It’s a social first type of brand, with their aesthetic being at the forefront of their decision-making.

Marianna and Lauren knew their audience cared about and deserved, clean products, which is why every Summer Fridays product is free of parabens, sulfates, GMOs and are vegan. In interviews, the co-founders have shared they wanted to start with one product, and subsequently only release one product at a time, to not overwhelm their audience. Their business strategy shows that you don’t have to have many products to be successful.

Hewitt and Gores had no prior experience in creating a business or formula, but have shaken up the industry in such a short amount of time. Soon after the release, their first product was featured on Sephora’s Bestsellers list. These badass women are a huge inspiration to the Boyfriend team and we can’t wait to see what they do next!
